My Holy Grail Drying Lotion For Acne

A lot of us experienced having pimples or acne right? Most of you might have experienced this dilemma during your adolescent days but for me I've encountered this in my mid 20's. During high-school days my skin was so flawless! I do not even use any facial product for my face except for a soap to wash it up until I was in my my 20's. I really had a terrible case of acne problems and nothing seems to work for me. Facial products was piling up already in my drawer in search for a very effective solution for this problem of mine. One day I saw in a magazine this "drying lotion" from Mario Badescu. So I searched online about it, took note of the active ingredients, how to apply it etc. One big question also is if it is available in our country Philippines, fortunately I found out that Rustans stores are selling these. I literally went to the nearest store from place and when I saw the price whoow! Its so expensive! but then again I'm in desperate to find something for acne to dry up fast and therefore, I bought it!

Benefits:

The Drying Lotion is a fast acting, effective acne spot treatment. Formulated with salicylic acid, calamine and other quick-drying ingredients, this product will shrink ugly whiteheads virtually overnight while you sleep. While other acne spot treatments can irritate and dry delicate or sensitive skin, this product is safe and effective for all skin types.
Ingredients: Isopropyl Alcohol,Deionized Water (Aqua), Calamine, Camphor, Colloidal Sulfur, Salicylic Acid,Glycerine, Zinc Oxide, Titanium Dioxide, Talc

How to Use: Before bed, after cleansing, toning and moisturizing apply a dab of lotion directly on the whitehead using a cotton swab. Do not rub in. Let it dry and rinse off in the morning. DO NOT shake the bottle and apply only the pink sediment on the skin.

***My Experinece: The afterfeel of this drying lotion when applied on the spot where your acne, a soothing feeling and a cool sensation. The itchiness I felt from my acne spot was releived and the next morning I can really see that the redness on my acne is gone and its slightly dried up and on those zits that are just very minimal they are completely dried up!. What I do now when I can already notice that a zit is just starting I'll apply already this amazing drying lotion on the zit.

One bottle goes a long way since you just apply the product directly on the spot. The alcohol content will evaporate in time but you can still see that there's still the pink sediments on the bottom meaning there's still remaining drying lotion in the bottle. Don't throw this away which my friend did... What I do is just add some isopropyl alcohol you have in your house and voila! It still works! Also the regular cotton buds are short for you to dip into the bottle especiall when the pink sediments in the bottom of the bottle is almost consumed just buy some cotton swabs from the pharmacy the one they use in the hospitals to clean wounds which have long sticks.

Proper Body Mechanics 101

As we age we often experience or notice a lot of changes in our body. Things we usually do when we were younger we could not perform very well at the present. Speaking for myself for instance, having the height of 5 feet and 9 inches tall plus some weight gain for the past few years I have been frequently experiencing some joint aches especially on my knees. I easily got exhausted and also often experiencing backaches too! I know I am really guilty of lacking some cardiovascular excercise and eating the right food.

One thing we also neglect is that we should also observe "proper body mechanics" when doing activities especially for daily activities. If we observe proper body mechanics we protect our body, especially your back, from pain and injury. It includes how we hold our bodies when we sit, stand, lift, carry, bend, and sleep. Poor body mechanics are often the cause of back problems. When we don't move correctly and safely, the spine is subjected to abnormal stresses that over time can lead to degeneration of spinal structures like discs and joints, injury, and unnecessary wear and tear.

As a healthcare provider myself, I am more conscious now of observing proper body mechanics when taking care of my patient. For example when lifting or transferring my patient from the wheelchair to the bed or vice versa. Proper stance and proper techniques should be observed for me to prevent injuries on  especially on my back. On a daily basis we should also be conscious to observe some proper body mechanics. Start by having a good body posture. (I remember during our early years in school our teachers always reminds us to stand properly or sit erect.)

Proper Body Mechanics for Standing

1.Stand straight with your head upright, chin slightly lifted, tucked in (with relaxed mouth and jaw muscles), and ears leveled just above the shoulders.
2.Gently pull your shoulders back in a proper level, instead of slouching it forward.
3.Lift your chest up and tuck stomach and abdominal muscles in.
4.Relax your arms and place them at the side of your body or slightly fold them at the back.
5.Keep your mid back straight and not slumped
6.Tighten your gluteal muscles, to tuck your tail bone, and tilt your pelvis slightly forward or in a neutral position. This method enables you to form a small hallow on your lower back, but be watchful enough to not over arch.
7.Make sure that your ankles are in line with your hips, and your hips are in line with your shoulders.
8.Widen the distance of your feet at least 3-4 inches apart for a stable base of support. Make sure to place equal amount of weight on both legs to minimize strain on weight bearing joints.

In sitting especially for those who works in office who spent most of the times in front of your PC

1.Put a pillow or rolled towel to support your lower back.
2.Raise one leg higher than the other to help keep from getting tired. This can be done by putting the leg on a footstool.
3.Ask your caregiver for special exercises to stretch the muscles in your neck.
4.Adjust the monitor of your computer so that the top is at the same level as your eyes.

*When you are driving, adjust the seat to a comfortable distance to the wheel. Sit back in the seat so your knees are even with the seat.

When lifting an object:

1.Your feet should be apart, in a standing position.
2.Keep your back straight.
3.Lower your body to get close to the object.
4.Bend from your hips and knees. DO NOT bend at the waist.
5.When turning, rotate your whole body, not just your back.
6.Hold the object by putting your hands around it.
7.Keeping your knees bent and your back straight, lift the object using your arm and leg muscles. Do not use your back muscles.
8.If the object is too heavy ask another person to help you.
* or find some devices to help you lift heavier objects.

When carrying an object:

1.Hold the object close to your body.
2.DO NOT carry things that are too heavy for you. Always ask for help to move heavy objects.
3.There are many devices available to help carry heavy objects.
These are just some tips on how to observe proper body mechanics. Start now so that you'll get used to it. I'm 100% sure you'll benefit from these. Remember! prevention is better than cure. Have a nice day everyone!

Brazil Nut Moisture Mask from The Body Shop has been a staple for my hair regimen for over 6 years now. I tell you, I have not been loyal to a sole product other than this! =) It's because it really worked for me and eventhough its expensive it's all worth it!

I started to use this hair mask years ago when I had my hair rebonded and the result- my hair was totally damaged! I paid for 7 thousand for that at a known salon. My hair that time was long like 5 inches below my shoulder already... Well at first I didnt know that it got damaged, for those who already had their hair rebonded the aftercare instructions would be not wet hair for 3 days. So after 3 days after taking a bath... and when my hair was air dried already OMG! my hair became super super dry and it really got kinky! That was really a disaster, I really cried over it! Imagine, you shelled out a lot of money just to get your hair damaged!!! My mistake was, I didnt get back to that salon to complain... I dont know why...

I tried a lot of hair products to revive my damaged hair and so when I saw this hair mask at The Body Shop I told myself I should try this but when I saw the price I got second thoughts but hey! what the heck I told myself maybe this time it'll work for me. That time it was only Php 645 but when I bought it last year it's already Php750.

During the time when my hair was badly damaged, I would apply on my damp hair and cover with a shower cap and leave it on overnight. I did that religiously 2x a week and use a hair spa from L'oreal alternatively. I got better result when i used this hair product. I was doing that routine for 3 mos then after seeing that I can already see an improvement I lessened the frequency of using this hair mask. Up to this date I use this on a regular basis especially after coloring my hair.

Tomorrow is Monday and another new day to start the working week! I hope you guys doesnt have the blues for tommorrow. Sleep early guys! and dont forget to wear your smile at your work :). Enjoy and love whatever your job is.
